NOTICE TO PIO CARD HOLDERS

Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) holding PIO Cards are hereby informed that they are required to get their PIO cards converted to Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cards latest by December 29, 2017.
PIO cards will become invalid travel documents w.e.f. October 2018 as per the new guidelines of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The conversion of existing PIO card to OCI card is offered free of cost till this date (December 29, 2017). Application for conversion of PIO card to OCI card is to be filled up online through the link: https://passport.gov.in/oci/. and thereafter a printout of the same (affixed with a photograph of size 51x51 mm) is to be submitted at the Embassy along with supporting documents - valid passport, PIO card and copies of these (originals returned upon submission).

Please note that PIO card holders traveling to India on the strength of PIO cards (handwritten) after October 2018, will be refused entry at the Indian Immigration counters and sent back. Similarly, any request for conversion of PIO card into OCI card after the current deadline of December 29, 2017 will attract a fee of US$ 275/- which will be the same as charged for issuance of fresh OCI card.
